ROYAL OAK, MI (May 13, 2014) — Liberty Center One is proud to announce the availability of Level 3 Communications’ (NYSE: LVLT) services at its high-availability commercial data center in Royal Oak, Michigan.
“The addition of primary fiber from Level 3 Communications is a significant addition to our portfolio of carriers available to our customers at Liberty Center One,” said Tim Mullahy, Managing Director. “Our approach has been to provide our customers with a superior, high-availability environment where their data center needs can be met, including their choice of carrier. The availability of Level 3 services is another example of Liberty Center One offering options to customers looking for an enterprise-level facility to protect their valuable data and applications.”
Level 3 becomes the sixth carrier to construct its own fiber path into Liberty, bringing the number of independent fiber trunks installed at the facility in Royal Oak to nine. As a global IP network provider, Level 3 offers a wide range of data, voice and video solutions, including high-speed business Internet, SIP (session initiation protocol) to unified communications, cloud connectivity, wavelength services, Ethernet private lines, as well as managed network security.
Several customers have already lit circuits as large as 10 Gbps at Liberty Center One and with multiple strands of fiber pulled into the facility, the capacity at the data center is virtually unlimited.
“Level 3 is deeply committed to ensuring its enterprise customers have access to a comprehensive suite of communications solutions via critical data gateways,” said Julie Masino, regional vice president for Level 3’s Central Region. “Liberty Center One serves a growing market, and building into this facility will better enable us to provide a superior customer experience for businesses throughout the region.”
“Level 3’s presence at Liberty Center One provides our customers with another advanced network resource as well as a strategic advantage,” said Brad Bekowies, Manager of Data Center Operations at Liberty Center One. “Customers using Level 3 services at their office or plant locations will be able to seamlessly connect with their presence at Liberty Center One, and those looking for new services will benefit from having access to Level 3’s solutions.”
Over the past 12 months Liberty Center One has attracted three new carriers who have installed five new fiber trunks using three diverse physical entry points to the building. Beyond the six ISPs with their own fiber, there are another 10 carriers providing services to customers at Liberty Center One. Customers wishing to carry their own carrier relationships with them will now have another choice for local loops now that Level 3 Communications’ services are lit in the facility.
“Through our carrier relationships, we can provide any type of data or voice network service customers may require,” added Mullahy. “We offer customers freedom of choice, so we provide the option to bundle all their carrier needs with their colocation services or they can BYOC…bring their own carrier….it’s totally up to them.”
