How do we build a more creative and inclusive city? At the end of June, city planners and urbanists from around the world will gather in Detroit to listen to a “festival of ideas” on how to do just this. A new Detroit is on the verge, through grit and determination, this city is bound and determined to push forward and emerge anew. The new Detroit has top-notch universities providing the knowledge assets, a growing downtown, a world-class airport, and a history built on design and engineering. Add that to the deep musical history and our vast culture background, Detroit’s makeup is setup to make a huge comeback. While most news stories focus on urban distress of the city, for those that live here who see the day-to-day changes, the city is charting is way along a new path.
Through this inaugural event, Create:Detroit will feature city builders, city leaders, place makers and urbanists not only from Detroit but from across North America. While examining lessons from Miami, San Francisco, Toronto, Queens New York, Las Vegas, Detroit and Endeavor Global, attendees will focus on how to build a more creative and inclusive city.
Create:Detroit will take place on June 30th from 2pm – 6:30pm at the College of Creative Studies located in Detroit.
